Learn to Knit 1
Knitting is such a joy - don't let it pass you by! You'll learn to cast on, knit, purl, cast off and how to sew up to finish your item. We'll be making some cute fingerless mitts, perfect for a little bit of extra warmth over Christmas and the new year. You'll get some needles, enough yarn to knit two pairs of mitts, a pattern that is endlessly adjustable and plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits.
This class is suitable for absolute beginners or those who want to brush up on long forgotten skills.
Learn to Knit 2
Once you've mastered the basics you'll want to learn how to increase, decrease, introduce new colours and knit in the round. Then you'll be good to go on your first garment! We'll make an adult hat that we'll knit in the round. You'll get some needles, enough yarn for your hat and another endlessly adjustable pattern. Don't forget the tea, coffee and biscuits!
This class is suitable for those who have been on our Learn to Knit 1 class, those who know how to cast on, knit, purl and cast off or those who just need reminding a little bit.
Buy them both together and get a £5 discount!
If you're attending both classes, please choose that option rather than booking two single classes.
All classes start at 10.30am sharp and finish at 3pm not so sharp... We have a half an hour lunch which I have to be strict about because four hours is a lot of finger work! You'll probably want to bring a lunch as there's not much open here on a Sunday but you might be able to survive on the biscuits.
All classes are taught by the magnificent Eleanor Burke, manager here at Knit Nottingham, who is an obsessive knitter, crocheter and yarn lover with the patience of a saint! Kids and young adults are welcome but she does have a penchant for fruity language...
Please note that we are moving premises around about the end of March to the beginning of April! Firstly, this is causing a little stress over here and we might get more confused than normal with bookings, bear with and secondly, probably more importantly, the lessons after we've moved will take place at the new shop on Trinity Walk rather than Mansfield Road. If you book or have booked a lesson during or after April, please take the time beforehand to check whether we're in the new shop or not on the main website. Thanks!
