This gorgeous flower top has caused a bit of a stir in the shop with many people using it as their first crochet garment so I thought it would be the perfect tool to use to discuss what a crochet garment needs. We'll talk yarn selection, gauge, shorthand, the things crochet designers expect you to know but don't spell out (and there's a lot!), sizing, shaping, deciphering written patterns - all sorts! By the end of the lesson you will have a swatch in (hopefully) your chosen yarn and have practised the stitches needed for the floral yoke. You need to know how to chain, double and treble and preferably you'll have tried a written pattern before but that's not necessary - ring me to chat if you need to. If you've been on our crochet number two lesson you should be fineThere will also be a private facebook group that you'll be added to for support after the lesson.
The price of the lesson includes a printed copy of the pattern, some notes from me and a ball of yarn which you'll be helped to choose on the day. You'll be able to purchase the rest of the yarn towards the end of the day if it's working out for you. You'll want to bring a selection of hooks from around a 3mm to a 5mm to get gauge but of course they'll be available to buy on the day if you forget or need a size that you haven't brought with you. Tea, coffee and biscuits are included as always but if you need any speciality teas, coffees or milks then you'll need to bring your own. And you bring your own lunch.
Lessons start at 10.30 and run until 3pm but we're often a little late so don't book anything too soon after finishing time! We're right in the city centre (9, Trinity Walk, NG1 2AN) and parking is best at the Victoria Centre car park or the Trinity Square car park.
