A great suggestion by a customer a couple of weeks ago which was popular with the crocheters in the shop at the time so here we are giving it a go! A finishing course for crocheters - what an idea! Now I haven't written the course yet so the details are yet to be confirmed and there may be more than this but the basics that we're going to cover are: sewing up with mattress stitch, 'picking up stitches' for edges and the maths surrounding this, button holes, sewing in ends in different fibres and some nice edgings. Everything you need to know to finish your crochet professionally and with confidence.
There is a bit of homework to speed up the lesson - you'll need to have two four inch squares in treble crochet (uk) made in dk with a 4mm hook or aran with a 5mm hook, also bring the rest of that yarn because that's what we'll be working with and the appropriate hook for it. You'll also need to bring a calculator or a phone that's got that capability for the very little maths there is on this lesson. Crocheters should be pretty confident with the basic stitches and have made an attempt at a pattern or two - if you've been on both of the beginner lessons you should be fine.
All classes take place at the Trinity Walk shop and start at 10.30am sharp and finish at 3pm not so sharp... We have a half an hour lunch which I have to be strict about because four hours is a lot of finger work! You'll probably want to bring a lunch as there's not much open here on a Sunday but you might be able to survive on the biscuits.
Classes are taught by the magnificent Eleanor Burke, owner and manager here at Knit Nottingham, who is an obsessive knitter, crocheter and yarn lover with the patience of a saint! Kids and young adults are welcome but she does have a penchant for fruity language...
Full payment is to be made in advance. Lessons are non-refundable – please only book if you're are going to be available on that date. In the case of illness please let us know as soon as possible and before the lesson begins and we will endeavour to book you onto an appropriate alternate date but this won't always be possible and we reserve the right not to as the lessons are sold as non-refundable. Lessons are transferable so if you can't come you can send a friend instead (ideally, you'd let me know so I can write that in the diary).
