These patterns are knitted in King Cole Chunky Tweed, a flecky, rich yarn with 25% wool. I think that this pattern could also handle a yarn with a bit of variegation and would suggest having a look at our King Cole Drifter Chunky which is a soft, self-striping faux fair isle yarn. 

These patterns are using 6mm and 5mm needles and stitch holders.
