In the shop this is the thing that most people ask if I can do for them, and the answer is no, because it's super easy and we're knitting because we want to learn things and expand our minds! If this sounds like you, then you need to be on the lesson. We're going to learn how to pick up stitches so they look super professional and cause you no stress (shhhh... it's an industry secret), a handful of buttonholes and when's appropriate to use them, and how to work out your buttonhole placement. Everything you need to know for buttonband success!
You will need to bring a four inch long swatch, it doesn't mater how wide it is but I'd say no less than two inches, knitted on dk yarn with 4mm needles and you'll need some 3.25mm needles to knit with on the day. A calculator (on your phone) would be useful too, though there's not too much maths. This is appropriate for people who can knit, purl, cast on, cast off, increase and decrease and have followed a pattern before. The lesson will go over some of the things we cover in the finishing lesson but it's not exactly the same so give us a ring (0115 9474239) if you want to chat about that.
Please note, if there aren't any dates available that means that they've been sold out. Feel free to contact us but there's not usually anything we can do. I suggest following us on Facebook and signing up the the mailing list so that you hear first about the lessons and then book as soon as you can!!
All evening classes start at 6.30pm sharp and finish at 8.30pm. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided but feel free to bring your own if you have fancy or unusual teas/milks/sweeteners.
All classes are taught by the magnificent Eleanor Burke, manager here at Knit Nottingham, who is an obsessive knitter, crocheter and yarn lover with the patience of a saint! Kids and young adults are welcome but she does have a penchant for fruity language...
Full payment is to be made in advance. Lessons are non-refundable – please only book if you're are going to be available on that date. In the case of illness please let us know as soon as possible and before the lesson begins and we will endeavour to book you onto an appropriate alternate date but this won't always be possible and we reserve the right not to as the lessons are sold as non-refundable. Lessons are transferable so if you can't come you can send a friend instead (ideally, you'd let me know so I can write that in the diary).
