We all wrestle with how to have resilient, positive mental health and most crafters understand that their creativity as an essential way to wellbeing.
This workshop is about learning why crafting works, about mental health and developing fun strategies to use your craft intentionally to improve your wellbeing.
Learn about the brain and physiological responses to stress (in a fun way honest).
Develop a toolkit of personal crafting remedies for maintaining and improving mental health.
Improve your own wellbeing by crafting in a group and giving to charity. Create a worry puppet to donate to Knit for Nowt, a charity who provide puppets and stuffed worry monsters to therapists in Hull.
The class is suitable for knitters or crocheters as it's not a knitting or crochet skills based lesson - although Emma will help put you right if you need it. Patterns for both a knitted or crocheted puppet will be provided as will the wool and materials but you'll want to bring a selection of hooks and/or needles so you have something to play with.
Please note the cheaper than usual price as we're just testing the theory here.
All classes start at 6.30pm sharp and finish at 8.30pm. Tea, coffee and snacks will be provided but if you have any specialist requirements you'll need to let us know.
All classes are taught by the magnificent Eleanor Burke, manager here at Knit Nottingham, who is an obsessive
knitter, crocheter and yarn lover with the patience of a saint! Apart from this one which is run by the lovely Emma from Our Creative Well. Kids and young adults are welcome with a suitable chaperone who'll have to take part in the lesson because of space issues i.e. book two spaces.
Full payment is to be made in advance. Lessons are non-refundable – please only book if you're are going to be available on that date. In the case of illness please let us know as soon as possible and before the lesson begins and we will endeavour to book you onto an appropriate alternate date but this won't always be possible and we reserve the right not to as the lessons are sold as non-refundable. Lessons are transferable so if you can't come you can send a friend instead (ideally, you'd let me know so I can write that in the diary).
