Cables and a flecked yarn are such a traditional option for our knits. This pattern really shows off the cable too with a contrasting plain sleeve. 

What I really like about King Cole Chunky Tweed - the yarn this pattern is designed in - is that they bring contemporary colours to a more traditional flecked yarn. Which gives you some great options for this particular knit.

You will also need 5mm and 6mm needles, stitch holders and a cable needle for this pattern. King Cole also suggests that you will need a 5mm circular needle for picking up the ribbing.
