Right, I know anthropomorphic bees aren't on the most common list of things you'll want to crochet, but hear me out. These are GREAT first teddy bears for little ones, as they're going to be strong and sturdy and super bright. Lots of parts sticking out means lots of things to grab onto. However, one of our friends across the way just told me that these would be brilliant for cats and dogs, and for cats you could put catnip inside and watch them go absolutely barmy for bees. How about it? I think he's a genius.

These are knitted up in King Cole Pricewise DK, a great workhorse yarn that will withstand the test of time (and the washing machine). You'll need a 3.5mm crochet hook.
