This has been a much anticipated and requested lesson and I'm finally getting round to it! I expect it to sell out so get ready! It's FAIRISLE! Well, really, stranded knitting but we'll talk about the history of fairisle and I'll have some examples of traditional stuff for you to peruse on the day.

I'll be teaching you how to knit a cowl, in the round on small circulars, using both hands! This means, if you're an English style knitter you'll be learning continental and if you're a continental style knitter you'll be learning English and if you don't know what you are you'll be finding that out! By the end of the day you will feel like an absolute knitting superstar. We'll also discuss a little on colour theory and adding in your own motifs to make something that is truly unique to you.

You should already know the basic knitting skills pretty confidently - cast on, knit, purl and cast off are all you actually need. If you've made more than a couple of scarves or a hat then you'll be absolutely fine.

The yarn will be provided on the day - a mixture of wools and wool blends which tend to work best for colourwork. If you are a vegan or sensitive to wools please let us know and we'll discuss in advance your best options - there are lots of them! I've also added an option to purchase discounted needles for the lesson. You'll need 60cm 4.5mm or 5mm so if you've got one, great and if you haven't just click that option. There will be a pattern and informational leaflet to take home on the day. We also provide teas, coffees and snacks. If you've got any dietary requirements - like non-cows milk - please let us know beforehand so we can prepare for you.

The class will take place in our lovely downstairs - there are 13 steps to get there and 13 steps to get back up. There is a sturdy handrail and you are welcome to come early if you need to take your time.

Please let us know if you have any questions! Can't wait to see you there. :)
