I love a good portmanteau and "coatigan" is one of my knitting faves. As well as a heavily cabled front (now now), this coatigan uses a chunky yarn to keep you warm and has pockets. POCKETS!
The patterns have been designed in King Cole Drifter Chunky, which is a self-striping, faux fair isle affair. It is soft and drapey as a yarn too with a mixture of acrylic, cotton and wool. My inclination with this pattern is to go simple on the colour choice, with a yarn like King Cole Timeless chunky - which is squishy soft and in some great solid shades to show off your cabled front.
