We've got this cardigan as a sample in the shop, and my goodness it sells some wool! There's something about the Drifter and the way the cushiony-ness retains the smoothness of the cotton, and that means that it works with the lace even though it's a self striper. I still think you could take this pattern and make it in something plain like the Forest Aran, but its one of those examples of self striping + lace that works really well.

This has been knitted in King Cole Drifter Aran, but you can use other Aran yarns (if you're nervous about substitution, let us know!). You'll also need 4mm and 5mm needles.
