It always surprises me how many absolute beginners come to the shop in December hoping to knit a loved one hat or scarf for Christmas - when the rest of us have been knitting since August! This however is a great pattern for that speedy knit (secret santa anyone?) and has a lovely feather and fan detail that would be a perfect next step for the novice knitter. 

The designer has used King Cole Big Value Super Chunky Tints which is a soft and cost-effective choice of yarn. I would also recommend taking a peek at King Cole Quartz Super Chunky which is soft and warm and gorgeous. 

You will need 10mm and 8mm needles for these patterns too.
