Have you always dreamt of making your own hand dyed yarn but don't know where to start? Well, it's quite a messy thing, and to get a good depth of colour you want lots of dyes which means it can be a steep investment. That's why these relaxed and informal workshops started where you can take your time being messy and creative and see if you love it!
You'll get a 100g skein and three 20g skeins on the day, ready prepared for you to dye yourself with our many, many colours. The yarn is a merino/nylon blend, a 4ply sock yarn*, the yarn has to be protein based for the dye we use. I'll talk you through techniques and things to think about but it's not a formal lesson so prepare to experiment. It's a messy workshop so wear messy clothes! There won't be enough time to dry the yarn so bring a plastic bag with you to take it home.
Additional 100g skeins can be purchased here, and 20g skeins here- perfect if you'd like to make a cardigan/jumper/fade kit with your hand dyed yarn!
We'll provide tea, coffee and treats on the day. If you have any special requirements (dietary or otherwise) let us know in advance and we'll cater to those.
Once you have placed your order, we will email you asking for your preferred time and date.
Price is £85 for 2 hours, additional people can be added up to a maximum of 4 people.
There are 13 steps down to the basement where the lesson will be held and there is a sturdy bannister. You are welcome to come early if you want to take your time getting down there. There are seats available throughout the workshop.
*DK and Chunky bases are available if you let me know which you would prefer when booking, I can prepare them for you.
