Traditional man-made fibres like acrylic and polyester can take over 100 years to break down, while natural fibres such as wool and cotton decompose in just a few years.
The clever people at Sirdar have found a solution - their revolutionary new Loveful Bio Blend yarn blends recycled polyester (from post-consumer bottles) with wool, enhanced with a special additive that enables the polyester to break down at the same rate as natural fibres! CiCLO® is a sustainable textile additive designed to attract naturally occurring microbes to man-made fibres (specifically polyester and nylon) to enable biodegradation. It is used to make synthetic materials behave more like natural fibres when they end up in the environment, helping to reduce the persistence of microplastic pollution. Importantly, it does this without compromising performance, softness or durability and, of course, it still feels incredible to work with!
Each batch is unique so it's more important to buy enough yarn from the same dyelot for your project.
