Blankets are often a great way to celebrate the joy of a new birth without the worry that the garment you knit will already be too small by the time they receive it! This lacy blanket with a solid border is beautiful and the added sparkles will let everyone know how special they are. 

Knitted in King Cole Baby Glitz DK, an especially soft yarn with a polyester thread for the sparkle that is barely noticeable to the skin. I think that these patterns are fairly summery and open in their design and would recommend trying King Cole Cottonsoft DK for those summer babies (or for parents who love natural fibres). 

These patterns are knitted using 3.25 and 4mm straight needles.
