The designer has used King Cole Cottonsoft DK yarn which is made of 100% super soft and perfect for babies and summer knits - utter perfection for summer babies! I would also recommend trying the very popular King Cole Cherished DK, it is a stellar yarn designed specifically for babies from anti-pill acrylic with lots of fab colourways to choose from. 

You will also need 3.75mm and 4mm knitting needles for these projects.
